Apple are really putting their all into building their new Augmented Reality empire. After previously teaming up with IKEA to smoothen the experience of purchasing of furniture, they have now bought a company specialising in eye-tracking software, SensoMotoric Instruments.
The glasses in question can be used to monitor your vision and what in particular catches your vision. Shops can use this information to see which displays catch your eye or this could also be used in the sports sector where the glasses analyse areas you need to improve. This project could be used to compete with Snapchat spectacles and Google’s project Quora; even though these devices haven’t done too well. Something inside me is telling me Apple can pull this off and make this device a necessity in the coming years; backed up further by CEO Tim Cook who stated that
“AR can be really great. We have been and continue to invest a lot in this. We’re high on AR in the long run and we think there are great things for customers and a great commercial opportunity.”
