Samsung showed off their Galaxy Z smartphone and prototype Smart tv at The Tizen Developer Conference in San Francisco.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z will be the first mobile to ship with the Tizen operating system, and will initially be sold in Russia later this year before expanding to other markets. Like many operating systems, the Tizen is Linux-based, and is designed to power a new generation of Internet connected devices; from home appliances to door locks and watches which may communicate with one another in the near future.
The Galaxy Z is a single Sim device which runs the Tizen 2.2.1 OS out-of-the-box. It comes with a 4.8-inch (720×1280 pixels) HD Super Amoled display and is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM.
The president of Samsung Electronics said;
the Samsung Z integrates the power and adaptability of the Tizen platform, enabling users to browse the web faster and utilize applications more effectively
During the conference we have admired also the Samsung’s prototype of a Tizen Powered TV, which came with a remote control with air mouse functions, to make browsing websites easier.
The software allows users to connect to the Web, access photos and videos, listen to music, watch live Tv, and download apps.
Cross convergence is what Samsung does the best and Tizen aims also to offer a more open alternative Apple’s iOs and Google’s Android.
