Poke-fans, rejoice. The Poke-experiece you Poke-dreamed of is finally Poke-here.

Pokemon Go is a mobile app created by game developer Niantic, and since its release earlier this week it’s already becoming a Gyrados-sized hit, leaping to the to of the App Store and Google Play store. But, before the app arrives in Malta, let’s first ask: What is it?

Pokemon Go is a mobile app that allows the user to have the immersive experience of being a Pokemon trainer. Using a sophisticated mapping system the app asks players to visit real life locations in their area where they can find and capture pokemon, which are shown onscreen. The aim, as it always has been, is simple : catch ’em all.

Buildings or locations that are of some notability are chosen as ‘Portals’, appearing onscreen as Pokeshops or Pokemon Gyms, where players fight other trainers.

Unfortunately, Pokemon Go has not yet arrived in Malta. However if it did, here is a look at what it might be like..

Location: Ghajn Tuffieha
Malta’ most famous beach would be an ideal place to catch water-type Pokemon, such as Gyrados .

Location: Ghar Dalam
Malta’s famous prehistoric cave is a treasure trove for fossil finders, archaeologists and hopefully Pokemon hunters. We can’t think if a better place to find a ghost type Pokemon like Gengar.

Location : Buskett Forest
Malta’s picturesque wood would be the ideal place to cath a wild bulbasaur.

Location: Chadwick Lakes
During the winter season, the Chadwick Lakes are filled with water, and, when Pokemon Go reaches Malta, hopefully filled with Squirtles too.

Location: Maxim’s Pastizzeria
Something about Snorlax seems to fit the Maxim’s habitat
