Remember when the iPod first came out? Everyone had to be seen using their iconic ear buds. As soon as you saw someone using the white ear pieces you knew the person loved music and owned one of the best MP3 players on the market.
Below we take a look at two pairs of headphones that define function vs form.
Let’s start off with the Beats headphones.
Owning a pair will set you back anywhere from $300 – $500 depending on the version, quite a hefty sum. The question is, is the money worth it? Beats are known for sounding pretty average but let’s be realistic the majority of people who buy these headphones don’t really do it for the sound quality but for the “fashion statement”.
Then you have the other side of the spectrum the ATH-M50X from Audio Technica.
It’s safe to say that unless you’re an audio head you’ve never even heard of Audio Technica and that’s quite understandable. Reason being Audio Technica spends much more money on sound quality then marketing and endorsements.
In the end it boils down to what you want from your headphones; a flashy fashion statement or something more low key and focused on sound quality.
