In 2014 the Australian government spent a staggering $34 Million removing graffiti from Sydney’s trains.

But the Australian Transport Department has had enough, and will be installing graffiti sniffing devices, which will be able to catch perps in action and warn the authorities in real time. The device detects paint fumes from aerosol cans, and then triggers a CCTV camera which starts recording the crime before alerting the police, who will pick up the criminal at the next stop.

This device has undergone rigorous testing, and according to the Australian Transport Department it had already caught 30 vandals red handed.
