Over the last year, it seemed like everyone and their cat was trading bitcoin. Stories of people becoming billionaires overnight when the price exploded poured even more fuel in the hype train. While the hype seems to have finally died down, Malta’s growing investment in Blockchain means that cryptocurrencies aren’t going away anytime soon.
In the present day, you want to use your hard-earned cryptocurrency as, well, currency. While it still hasn’t been adopted as a standard form of payment, some places do. This handy list lists every Maltese company that accepts bitcoin. Users are encouraged to add to that list if they find more businesses. At the time of writing, there are only 29 businesses. Some of the companies listed even accept other cryptocurrencies, namely Etherium and Litecoin.
The number of businesses might seem a little underwhelming. But, it’s important to remember that Bitcoin is far from dead. While it’s not quite the juggernaut that is was at the beginning of the year, it is still worth between five and six thousand euro. Apart from this, the more businesses that offer it could lead to more use of cryptocurrencies. More use means that other businesses are more likely to accept it. So we could see that list slowly grow. That is, if they see more and more people using cryptocurrencies to conduct their everyday business.
The list was taken from the Facebook group Bitcoin Malta.
