Women In Aviation Malta. Yes, you heard right.
Women In Aviation Malta will kick off its first official meeting at The Embassy Hotel in Valletta, tomorrow, Friday 18 June. The aim of the group is to both motivate more women to aim for senior posts in aviation and also to inspire the younger female generations to get hyped up about the industry.
We spoke with the association’s president, Ruth Sawers, as she emphasised that even though there are no official men-to-women ratios when it comes to women working within the aviation industry, when attending business events, she notices the obvious, “very few senior C-suite level posts held by women in Malta. And this needs to change”.
Teach them young
The association aims to reach schools, clubs, universities and colleges, right at the heartbeat where young women can be inspired to have a career in the beautiful world of aviation – which offers so many opportunities.
Things will start happening
The event tomorrow will feature guest speaker Karmenu Vella, the just-appointed chairman of the Aviation Advisory Committee with the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Project. Post-event, similar meetings and events will be held monthly.
