What Happened To Malta Pastizziposting?

Well, as plenty of you know by now, the original Malta Pastizziposting group got Zucced, meaning the admin team were kicked out of the group. In between memes, banter and maybe something a bit more than that, we got the inside story about how a new group is in town and why it’s going to be the place to be. We spoke with three of the original modmins in Neil Buhagiar and Vuk Ilic, who you might remember from our last Pastizziposting chat.

How we ended up here

In summary, the relationship between the original admins and the page creator deteriorated. In a bit more detail, there were creative differences and backpedalling on a number of agreements from the page creator, not to mention pulling rank as the page chief. It’s also worth noting that despite being the creator, the modmin contributed heavily towards the running of the page.

“Basically, he started using the old “I’m the owner I’ll kick you all out” spiel, despite us having an agreement that from here on out, the original admins would have an equal say.”

Neil

One thing you’ll remember from the original group was how difficult it was to get a post in sometimes. Having admins and moderators approve each and every post became very tedious very quickly for both posters and the page guardians, but that’s all about to change.

Free to post

One thing all admins have agreed on is for more lax posting guidelines. “As long as you don’t violate Facebook guidelines or post some form of blatant advertising, we’re happy”. The vibe we got from this chat was that the new group is looking to thrive rather than stagnate, as Vuk put it.

The Maltese Facebook Group Landscape

There are plans to create a Reddit-style website that won’t have the strict Facebook guidelines to hold it back. This was an idea discussed with the original team of Pastizziposting, and turned out to be one of the agreements that fell apart.

“I guess what will be different with this group is that our group will have more creative approaches to the audience, this group will always be looking forward and not stagnating in one place.

Vuk

Shots fired?

When two creative factions form in such a way, it’s normal to expect barbs and banter, but will extend further? “I don’t see a reason for the banter to stop, as long as it’s all fun and games,” said Neil. For the Maltese meme game, it spells good news, because this way we’ve got two groups creating content simultaneously. For the new “old” gang though, there’s talk of novelty merch to go with the new website, so there’s a firm eye on the future there!
