It’s the most wonderful time of the year and something new is brewing at Esplora. Malta’s Science Centre has combined the Christmas magic in the air with science and came up with some new activities for you and your loved ones to enjoy this festive season.
Make some new memories with their fun activities starting on the 17th of December. Sit back and enjoy a seasonal science show, indulge in the festive menu at the EsploraCafé, or have a go at one of their fun workshops!
Tickets for this magical event will be sold from the reception on a first-come, first-served basis however, we suggest booking ahead of time on showshappening.com to avoid any disappointment. Prices range from €5 to €7, and for an extra cost of €1, you can enjoy a science show, workshop, or a planetarium film! They’re even offering one free child entrance with every paying adult.
Time and time again, the planetarium has taken us on a voyage among the stars through galaxies far, far away. This time they’ll be taking us back in time, to around 65 million years ago. Dinosaurs: A Story of Survival is a new film at the EsploraPlanetarium that tells the story of a young girl, Celeste, who tries to discover the evolution of the dinosaurs. So, if you ever wondered about how the dinosaurs became extinct, join us to find out.
Once upon a Christmas is an interactive storytelling workshop aimed for young children. During this activity children will go on a journey with Santa Claus to explore how families in Malta and Gozo celebrate Christmas.
Lights, Camera, Action!
Are you a fan of Christmas movies? Home alone? Elf? The Grinch? Well, at Esplora you’ll have the chance to recreate some of the special effects seen in movies. Together with the Esplora film crew, you’ll get the chance to try capturing your own Christmas magic with the use of Green Screen Technology and Foley sound effects, among other technological devices.
Santa’s Sleigh Workshop
We all know Santa’s magical reindeers guide him in the skies on Christmas Eve every year, but they must be getting tired of it, I know I would. That’s why Esplora has redesigned his sleigh using K’NEX technology and sphero power! Our friends Ian, Ashley and his daughter, Amy Jo had the chance to test out their prototype and now, so can you.
The fires are all warmed up and the hot chocolate is ready, so be sure to make unforgettable memories here at Esplora. For more information about the event, opening hours and prices, visit their website: https://esplora.org.mt/christmas-esplora-3/
