I can’t think of anything I dread more, after a hard day’s work than doing housework. Whether it’s washing the plates, sweeping the floor or simply folding clothes; I hate it all. After all, it is 2018 and we have robots or gadgets that can take care of all these chores, rather than us going home after a long day at work and anxiously carrying out these chores. So we have come up with a list of gadgets that can make the housework less stressful.
Vacuuming
Even though it’s been around for a long time, various companies have been working on gadgets that aim to save your sweat and allow the gadget to do the vacuuming. There are now smart, technology-driven robotic vacuums that map your house and learn to do the vacuuming for you, in the most efficient way possible. Get rid of all that dog/cat hair by simply putting on your robotic vacuum and chilling on the sofa, binge-watching your favourite Netflix series.
Automatic dish scrubber
If you aren’t lucky enough to own a dishwasher, engineers have come up with a gadget that scrubs the plates while it spins them around to remove leftover food and stains. All you have to do is holster the plate within the gadget and allow the magic to happen.
Ironing and folding clothes
After the hard work of putting your clothes in the washing machine, waiting for them to come out and then hanging them up to dry, comes the most annoying task of ironing and folding the clothes. There is a gadget for each of these painstaking chores. For ironing, you will find the Effie useful, the Effie will automatically iron your clothes with the click of a button. Unfortunately, the Effie isn’t in distribution stages yet so, for the time being, you will have to do the ironing yourself. On the other hand, the folding can be done using a gadget appropriately called the Foldimate. The Foldimate is also not in final stages of distribution, although it will be released in late 2018.
Cleaning your windows
With the amount of development constantly going on in Malta, it is likely that cleaning your windows from the inside and out is a weekly task. With the Winbot, you’ll never have to bring out the old newspapers, bucket and vinegar. All you have to do is stick the Winbot to your window and let the magic happen. The Winbot has a three-stage cleaning process; washing, wiping and drying.
Making your bed
This one we are slightly ashamed of, considering it doesn’t take more than two minutes to do the bed. With this gadget, you will be able to do the bed in under thirty seconds without lifting a finger. The Ohea smart bed will put an end to lower back pains and pointless arguments about who’s done their bed.
Now some of these might seem a little farfetched or like we are getting lazier than ever, but it’s true, we are. We are reaching a point where every second of our day is as valuable as the next with the busy schedules we are leading every day. Unfortunately, since many people opt for traditional methods when it comes to chores, these products are still priced very highly although, within the next 10 years, more and more households will be looking to automate their chores.
