One of Malta’s most inspirational young athletes, Jake Vella, completed a 100km swim in aid of the Association for Abandoned Animals, breaking a personal record of his in the process.

20 days for 100km

Having started on the 15th of June, the youngster completed his virtual journey on 13th July, having drawn inspiration from fellow record-breaking swimmer Neil Agius. Jake is battling the rare condition ROHHAD NET (Rapid-onset Obesity with Hypothalamic dysfunction, Hypoventilation and Autonomic Dysregulation), meaning his hormones make it extremely difficult to lose weight, despite his training regime.

The duo have the kind of bromance going on that this world needs, so who’s to say we won’t see them take part in a double swimming challenge sometime soon?
