As the day dedicated to all the love in our lives fast approaches, Bank of Valletta is encouraging its customers to buy Valentine’s Day gifts by using their BOV Cards for safe, secure, online shopping.

This Valentine’s Day, the bank is especially promoting the concept of shopping from Malta-based online shops. Alternatively, if you really do have to physically visit a shop, you can stay safe by using your physical BOV Contactless Cards or even better paying via BOV Pay or Apple Pay on your smart devices.

Malta-based Online Shops Are On The Increase

The COVID-19 pandemic has only made more and more people understand the benefits of online shopping. And businesses have in turn recognised that having an online shop has practically become a necessity. In fact, several businesses now run fully-fledged online shops alongside (or in some cases instead of) their physical shops.

Save Yourself A Headache

The idea of choosing to buy your gifts from local online shops is of course praiseworthy since it is a means of encouraging local prosperity.

Additionally, for all of us who leave things till the very last minute, shopping online locally means that we don’t have to worry about our item not being delivered in good enough time.

No Hidden Taxes

Another headache that can easily be avoided when shopping from Malta-based online shops is that the price of an item you’d like to buy is the final price that you will actually pay. This is not so for online shops based in the UK, for instance. Many of us who are accustomed to shopping from UK-based online shops now know that we will need to factor in extra import duty or other Brexit-related taxes.

A sweet, safe Valentine’s with BOV

All in all, it’s going to be a sweet and safe Valentine’s with BOV Cards when you use them for online or in-store shopping. Contactless has become the order of the day and has become even more popular via BOV Pay and Apple Pay. Moreover, since last March, BOV has increased its contactless limit to €50 on all its EPOS terminals, thus you can now pay for purchases of up to €50 by simply tapping your card without having to input your PIN, which eliminates the need to touch the keypad.
