Iconic British comedian Eddie Izzard is no stranger to running marathons in aid of charity; last year, she ran 28 marathons in 28 days. That was a bid to raise not only money for charity, but also to spread a message of unity among countries and communities. This year, despite the COVID situation, Izzard has still gone ahead, albeit virtually, and was in Malta just a couple of days ago!
Visiting iconic locations
Of course, Izzard was here in Malta last year too, but 2021 required her to use a treadmill and iconic shots of Malta (including a Cisk Excel can) playing on a looped video.

Travel restrictions, lockdown and the like have reduced the unique trail to a static one, although this year, there are 31 marathons on the menu. That’s one every day for January, for a total of well over 1,300km. And, lest we forget, a gig to follow each marathon.

The marathon can be followed live on Izzard’s Twitch account, and tickets can also be purchased online to watch the shows. The money being raised is for five charities: Fareshare, Walking With the Wounded, Care International, United to Combat Neglected Tropical Diseases and Covenant House New York City.
