Malta’s New Campaign To Get You On Your Feet

As we all know, Malta has closed down numerous establishments across the country, and those include gyms. Those who were more inclined to get their workout outside their home might be feeling a little demotivated due to all of this.

It’s very enticing to sit down and watch the latest season of Money Heist or FINALLY watch those movies you told your co-workers that you ‘wrote down in the list’ (we all know there is no list). Even the most successful and popular gamers and e-sports competitors and well trained and have a great bill of health! This is because gaming involves very little movement (maybe if you’re playing VR we’ll let it slide… maybe) so you have to make sure to keep active.

And let’s face it, we’re cooking food and ordering takeaway like there’s no tomorrow, because nothing cures boredom like pizza and a tub of ice-cream.

Malta’s Parliamentary Secretary for Youths, Sports and Voluntary Organisations have announced the ‘#BeActive at Home’ campaign, to keep Malta fit and healthy during these times of self-isolation. This initiative is set to release numerous sport and fitness videos online directed towards people of all ages.

This campaign was set to motivate everyone to get moving and get fit from the comfort of their own homes. Parliamentary Secretary Clifton Grima stressed that just because we’re stuck at home, doesn’t mean we should neglect our health, and that keeping fit is important not only for our physical health, but even our mental health and general wellbeing.

SportMalta will be delivering this services, and all the videos aforementioned will be available on their Facebook page ‘BeActive – SportMalta’ and the government Facebook page ‘Edukazzjoni’.

What are you doing to keep active at home? Do you think Malta’s new campaign will help those stuck inside to get active?
