As works on The Brewhouse Malta continue, Farsons Group provided a bit of a feel-good update, especially for lovers of all things old school. Since The Brewhouse will be located on what used to be part of the Farsons brewery, there’s still some old machinery sitting around and one piece is about to get a new lease of life.

Old, new & opening date due

Restoration works have started on a David Brown gearbox from 1948, which is still located in its original position and is set for a fresh coat of paint. Revealing the news on their Facebook page, enthusiasts and previous employees were somewhat thrilled at seeing the gearbox getting some TLC.

“If I’m not mistaken there were four of them,” explained one Joe Sammut, “three under the boiling coppers used as drives for the mixing screws and one under the Louter (if I’m spelling it correctly) tank as a drive for the Rake. Beautiful Memories. Proud to have worked there for 40 years”.

The Brewhouse Malta is set to be a prime location both for a variety of entertainment as well as an office space, making the transition from one of Malta’s most iconic 20th-century industrial buildings.
