The Shanghai Motorshow is being held this month, and much of the buzz surrounds electric vehicles, particularly SUVs. A vehicle style that’s become increasingly popular in Malta, here are three electric SUVs one ought to keep an eye out for!

Honda SUV E

Although still in the prototype stage, this one is quite the looker. Very little else is known, although, under the GM-Honda partnership, it’s expected to be built by GM using GM’s Ultium battery technology. This should provide a driving range of 640km or more. Fast-charging capability, meanwhile, ought to afford owners to add more than 160km of range after just 10 minutes of charging.

Mercedes-Benz EQB

The fourth electric vehicle to come out of Mercedes’ doors, the EQB SUV will retain this boxy shape for the Chinese market. For the US and Europe, however, dimensions and details might change slightly.

The EQB will accept up to 100 kilowatts, charging to 80% in just 30 minutes. Expected to lay down 288 horsepower, there’s still no news of range as yet, but there are plans for a long-range version of this SUV.

Volkswagen ID 6 SUV

Two versions of VW’s newest SUV will be produced: the ID 6 Crozz and ID 6 X. The Crozz is a bit more rugged, while the other is a tad more sporty, but both will be available with a 58- or 77-kilowatt-hour battery pack with a range of around 520km.

At its most powerful, the SUV makes 300 horsepower with all-wheel drive sending the car from 0-100km/hr in 6.6 seconds. Impressive though that may be, the ID6 is also focused on space, with three rows of seats, offering up to 7 spaces for passengers.

That purple is looking pretty damn snazzy too.
