It hasn’t been long since Sony released their flagship Xperia phone, the Z2, but here we are with the company unveiling the new Z3.

Aesthetically the phone is very similar to its predecessor, sporting the iconic metal frame, encasing the shatter proof glass finish. The Z3 has a 2.5 Ghz quad core Snapdragon 801 chipset, 3 GB of RAM, and a 5.2″ Full HD multi-touch display.

The camera sports a new 25mm G lens, with a 20.7 MP sensor, and a 12,800 ISO limit (a smartphone first). The camera performs better in low light compared to any other iteration in the Xperia series, and also sports a new image stabilisation system which sets itself apart. The dustproof and waterproof rating has gone up to IP65/68, and the phone is also compatible with Micro SD cards up to 128gb in size.

The Xperia Z3 is also one of Sony’s products to be Playstation Remote compatible, which allows users to play Playstation 4 games (which was a feature only available for the Vita), directly on the phone, eliminating the need for a TV. The company unveiled a gaming suction mount for the Z3 which is compatible with the Dualshock 4, allowing users to play their Playstation titles with the Dualshock controller. The phone sports an advanced audio up-scaling engine, the DSEE HX, which turns low quality audio in near high quality audio, just like that.

The phone is set to hit the shelves later this month, and will be available in several colours.
